What is the Cross of St. Benedict Society?
The Cross of St. Benedict Society is a community of faithful Christians who pray daily for the protection and healing of their families and the families of the Cross of St. Benedict Society.
What does the membership entail?
The membership is shown by the initial act of faith to accept a Cross of St. Benedict and support the Society’s mission, a sacred sign of the Church’s power of petition through this sacramental. (Canon Law 1166).
The main mission of the Cross of St. Benedict Society is to promote the faith necessary to obtain miracles of healing in our families through the power of the Cross. Your membership will be a journey of deliberate attempts to put your faith into action.
As a member, your journey to heaven will be supported by a spiritual community of faithful individuals who unite their prayers with yours.
It is our hope that in moments of adversities and crisis, the Cross of St. Benedict Society members will rise up and help each other to have faith and trust in the provisions and will of the Heavenly Father.
Do we need to say a certain prayer?
Any form of fervent prayer united to the Cross of St. Benedict society is very powerful.
As founders of the society, we consecrated our family to the Blessed Mother to pray for the healing of the families of the Cross of St. Benedict by including the intentions of the members in our daily prayer life which consists of praying the Liturgy of the Hours (Morning Lauds, Mid-day, Vespers, Compline), Holy Mass, Rosary, Chaplet of Divine Mercy, and Adoration. In addition to this, we made a solemn promise to live the Benedictine spirituality as Oblates of the Benedictines under the Benedictines of Mary, Queen of Peace. We believe that the graces to pray seven times a day are due to the mission entrusted to us, that is, to pray for the protection and healing of families.
We asked our members to say a simple fervent prayer similar to the following:
“We pray for the healing of our family, the families of the Cross of St. Benedict Society, and all the families in the world.”
How many members do you have?
To date, we have over a thousand Cross of St. Benedict sacramentals accepted by families and over a thousand specific prayer intentions that we offer weekly to our Lord.
Each of our members had made “acts of faith” to support the ministry that God has entrusted to us. In turn, generous amount of our proceeds go to our monastery and parish and the remaining to cover the cost of the products and our evangelization efforts across Northern America.
No one can pay the full price of our redemption, Jesus only asks what you can give today from the gifts he had provided. This is the essence of the ministry – it requres two “acts of faith“: one from your side that God will provide the means for you to get this cross and the second faith is on our side, that whether you can or not support us at the moment, God will provide for us. Our mission is to just keep presenting the cross and to keep testifying.
How did the Cross of St. Benedict Society originated?
Our story is depicted in an article by Amber Mellon, Correspondent of the Catholics New Herald. Read the article “Woodworker Uses Gifts to Make Crosses, encourage families”.
Why Do I Need to Join the Cross of St. Benedict Society?
The unseen attack on families is worse than the prevailing evils in the world right now. But, the plan of the devil is subtle, quiet and unnoticeable.
The devil is aggressive to destroy the family; dividing its members against each other. It means the following: husbands against wives, children against parents, siblings against each other.
We have a society of disconnected families. Thus, it becomes difficult to stand with one another on important issues of the Catholic faith in the prevailing times. We are paralyzed to do anything because of the woundedness in our families. We are busy putting fires in our family life from external forces as well attacks from within. The spiritual attacks of the devil present a reality beyond us. It is time to use the powerful weapons in the Church’s treasure box and understand how faith plays an important role.
To fight the attacks of the devil is to bring back love to the family. One way to love your family members far away from you is to unite your prayers with the Cross of St. Benedict society and do “acts of faith.” The devil hates unity so it tries to divide any community or sense of family life. The devil hates faith, so it will try to give you the lie that your prayers are not working so you will lose your peace.
“Your faith has saved you, Go in peace and be cured of your affliction.” ( Mark 5:34)
